as some of you know, i started college 5 years ago for the first time at age 27. i had been out of the "truth" for 9 years at that time, but had just broken free of the mentality.
well, on saturday i walked across the stage with the 130th graduating class at rocky mountain college!.
after 5 years of working several jobs, taking care of two little boys as a single mom, and trying to get the most out of my college experience, i earned my master of accountancy, bachelor of science in business management, and minors in writing and organizational leadership.
Thank you so much for sharing your success with us.
Brightened my day, and you and your children's lives.
CONGRATULATIUONS!!!

well it's been exactly 2 years and 2 weeks since the night where i investigated (googled) as much about jws as i could after being born and raised in the cult till my mid 20s.
it took just one all nighter to completely demolish all of the doctrines and bullshit of the religion.
basically after that i went to one more convention and have not stepped into a kingdom hall since.
Good life-coaching advice from clarity!
Our fade is going quite well since we all (my wife and late teens/early 20s kids) woke up around the same time.
Lots of spin off activities through our various new-found friends.

sorry i'm talkative today.
only day off this week.
so some work friends from va and wv and some local wv's are going.
I hope you have a blast FoundSheep! Good for you on pursuing your bucket list.
Have you ever checked out YouTube videos of "Wingsuit" flights?
REALLY dangerous, but it looks like quite an adrenaline rush.
I hope you never do wingsuit jumping, but the vids are worth checking out.

hello all, i've just discovered this site and i cant begin to describe how happy i am to have come across it.
i stumbled across this site purely by accident...seriously i was looking at arkham city walkthoughs and a few jumps later i end up here.
i though it was a legit society page at first and thought 'what the hell, this will be good for a laugh', but after reading a few posts well...i couldnt stop reading.
Welcome aboard BGB!!
Nice to see you had the vision and guts to not waste your life.
Look forward to learning more of your story.
om
(p.s. You gonna let us know what BGB stands for?)
LOL at both of the above!
I thought about getting our dog one of these and then taking him to a meeting.
But, I didn't want to risk losing him to the love bombing.

scene: a man and his wife talking before they prepare their watchtower study together.
me: sweetheart, i love you so much.
let me ask you something though.. her: ok sure babe.. me: hypothetically say i was an abusive husband..... her: your not though.. me: i know, but just hypothetically if i was an abusive husband and i hit you what would you do?.
Wishing you well with your Family Worship.
I don't know your wife, but the "I'm puzzled/disturbed" approach usually works better than "This is B***Sh**!"
Keep the "I'm puzzled" demeanor and you might get good mileage out of this WT lesson.

From Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, 1602:
Malvolio:
"In my stars I am above thee; but be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em."In WT world, Elderhood is the first rung of "greatness". Malvolio's first category doesn't apply ("some are born great" i.e. Elders) but the second and third categories nail it, IMO.
I tried to avoid being an Elder for as long as I could, but eventually, unless you've really ticked off the local BOE, you're going to get appointed.

hi everyone, i would like to introduce myself and tell my story.
from the standpoint of being one of jehovahs witnesses, my whole family is deeply involved as i was the 5th generation of witness and any children that my brothers or sister have will be the sixth generation.
as some of my brothers and sisters are grandparents, i guess that makes their grandchildren a potential 7th generation.
Excellent first post.
I especially loved the expression that JWs have been on a "130+ year snipe hunt".

it's 9:30 on a saturday night.
no desserts to be found anywhere in the open mind household.
cvs drug/variety store is open 'til 10 pm.
Band on the Run: Great church story!
Now on to "boob"-gate.
The cashier was an 18ish, butch-looking young lady with somewhat form-fitting clothes but not uber-provocative. I always try to appy the wisdom of Seinfeld when it comes to cleavage on public display.
"Cleavage is like the sun. A quick glance, then look away!"
What was bizarre was that given the social tabboo of staring at cleavage, out of the blue this young lady was pointedly gesturing downwards with her hand towards her bosom. It took about 1 second for me to go from "WTH?" to "DOH!!" Hide the pooch!!
